Mr. Michael R. Shaw, 63, of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, February 6, 2014. He was born January 22, 1951 in Martinsville, Indiana, the son of Lester W. Shaw II, and Oma (Richardson) Shaw Kelley. He married Miss Catherine Marocchini on December 22, 1971.
Mr. Shaw was a Certified Registered Nurse of Anesthesia at Harris Hospital for 10 years, and was a United States Army Nurse Corp veteran. He loved to read anything and everything. Mr. Shaw was extremely caring, and known for his dedication to his patients.
Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Marocchini) Shaw of the home; his mother, Oma Kelley of Cromwell, Connecticut; two daughters, Melinda Shaw and Kelly Ann Tidwell, both of Newport; four brothers, Lester Shaw III and wife Dorthea of Avon, Connecticut, Charles Shaw and wife Donna of Milford, Massachusetts, John Shaw and wife Mareyan of Manassas, Virginia, and Edward Kelley of Cromwell, Connecticut; one sister, Pam Kawecki of Middletown, Connecticut; one grandchild, Gabrielle Tidwell of Newport; several nieces and nephews; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Sandy Bossie of Cromwell, Connecticut; and a lifetime of friends.
Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at First United Methodist Church. Friends may visit at the church at 10:00 a.m. until service time.
The Family requests memorials be made to the Jackson County Learning Center Building Fund, Newport, AR 72112.
Johnnie Rosell, a great friend of the Arkansas Association of Nurse Anesthetists has passed away. She will be fondly remembered and her legacy will live on through her ARANA scholarship fund. James Henry Pettyjohn, CRNA
B. Jan 4, 1929, D. Jan. 29, 2013. Served in the Korean War. Graduated from Southwest Missouri School of Anesthesia in Springfield, MO. Had a private practice in Branson, MO and Rogers, AR. He retired in 1982. Served as chief CRNA at Rogers Memorial Hospital and was president of Professional Anesthesia Associates. Buried at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Sprinfield, MO.
